Digital skills
for home and work.

We run two courses: one for families at home, and one for the working day. Both start at the beginning and go at your pace.

What we teach, on your own device.

We start with the phone or laptop you already own and the things you need to get done this week, and nobody is made to feel small for asking.

  • Safety and Screen Time

Spot the text pretending to be your bank, set screen time rules that fit your household, and follow a simple plan when something feels off.

  • Communication

Sort your email so the important messages get seen, keep team chat useful, and get your family on a video call from the kitchen table.

  • Working Life

Use documents, spreadsheets, and AI tools with confidence on your own work, and keep client information safe while you do it.

  • Independent Living

Set up the apps you rely on and use them safely, from the bus and the clinic to the bank and the grocery store.

Digital Literacy for Life.

Families learn to stay safe online together: scams, settings, screen time, social media, and AI. You leave with a family safety plan you wrote yourselves.

  • Four sessions of ninety minutes, weekly over one month
  • Grandparents, parents, and kids at one table, on the phones already in the house
  • Scams, safety settings, screen time, social media, AI, and a family safety plan
  • Families
  • Seniors
  • Newcomers

Digital Literacy for Work.

You learn the everyday tools of your job, from documents and spreadsheets to AI, on your own work. Small businesses can often claim most of the cost back.

  • Six sessions of two and a half hours, over six weeks
  • Every exercise done on your own work, from email and spreadsheets to AI
  • Often grant-eligible: many small businesses claim most of the cost back

Our approach

How we teach.

Rize Skill Training is a family business with roots in Black and Indigenous communities, and we bring a culturally-centred approach to every room. The pace is set by the people in it, and nobody is pushed to use a tool that is wrong for them.

  • Your Device, Your Pace

You practise on the phone or laptop you already own, so what you learn in the room works the same at home. For programs we run with an organization, loaner devices can go in the budget.

  • Every Question Is a Good One

Ask twice, ask three times. You get a straight answer in everyday words, and everyone in the room gets their turn.

  • Something Finished Every Session

Every session ends with something finished on your own device: a page of your family’s safety plan, or a real piece of your work.

  • Help That Keeps Going

You take home plain-language handouts, and you can reach us with the questions that come up the week after.

  • We Work With the People You Already Trust

We are happy to work with cultural practitioners, Elders, interpreters, and community support people who suit your team and your audience, planned in from the first conversation.

A single workshop runs 90 minutes to half a day. The Life course is four weekly sessions in person, and the Work course is six, in person or live online. Tell us what else would make this a safe and productive place to learn, and we will plan for it.

How it works

Three steps to a funded program.

The courses are built to be booked by an organization for the people it serves. Here is how that works.

  1. Step 1: We Find the Funding Together

We help you find the grant that fits and write the training into your application, so the program can be paid for.

  2. Step 2: We Build It Around Your People

A planning conversation with your team shapes the examples, the pacing, and the take-homes.

  3. Step 3: We Deliver It Beside You

Your staff work alongside us in the room, and we stay in touch after the last session.

Partnerships

Digital skills for the people you serve.

Both courses run as partnerships: a funder covers the cost, and your organization brings the people it serves. The partnerships page explains how the funding comes together.

Book a workshop.

Tell us who it is for: your organization, your team, or yourself. Only your name, email, and a short message are required.

Questions.

Who is this for?

Families, seniors and Elders, newcomers who are new to technology, and people who want to use AI and everyday tools at work. Community organizations can book it for the people they serve.

Do I need any experience?

No. If you can tap to pay or send a text, you already have what we build on.

What does it cost?

It depends on who is paying. When a community organization funds the program, families attend at no cost to them. Small businesses can often claim most of the Work course cost back through the BC Employer Training Grant, and we walk you through it on the call.

What do I bring?

Your own phone or laptop, if you have one. We bring plain-language handouts to take home, and for programs we run with an organization, loaner devices can go in the budget.

Where do sessions happen?

In person across Vancouver and the Greater Vancouver area, usually at the organization hosting the course. The Work course can also run live online.

What if I forget what we covered?

You keep the handouts, and you can reach us with questions after the session. Asking twice is welcome.
